The Wizard of Oz in London
The Wizard of Oz musical is due to open in London sometime in 2010
Based on the original classic MGM film from 1939, starring Judy Garland.
The film was based on Frank Baum's fairy tale book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, published in 1900.
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a cultural icon in the United States. Dorothy and Toto, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, the Wicked Witch of the West, and the Wizard of Oz have all become part of the American vocabulary. Dorothy's heartfelt statement, "There is no place like home," still reverberates today.
Over The Rainbow
Over The Rainbow will be the title of a TV competition series which will pick a winner to sing the part of Dorothy in London.
Andrew Lloyd Webber will once again be using a televised talent show to find the leading lady who will follow his yellow brick road all the way to the London stage. The move follows the success of previous shows How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? (The Sound of Music), Any Dream Will Do (Joseph) and I’d Do Anything ( Oliver ).

Over The Rainbow Auditions
Auditions are open to everyone, no matter how much or how little experience you have. What really matters is the potential to make the part of Dorothy your own.
Nationwide auditions for Dorothy begin in January 2010.
The first round auditions begin in January, 2010, and will take place in Belfast, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester and London. The winner will follow in the footsteps of previous casting show winners Connie Fisher and Jodie Prenger, both of whom have gone on to enjoy considerable professional success.
All applicants must have been aged 16 or over by 26 June 2009.
The Wizard of Oz Synopsis
After a tornado whisks away a young Kansas farm girl, Dorothy, to the magical land of OZ, she starts her quest to find the mighty Wizard of Oz who has the power to send her home. Along the way she meets a Scarecrow, a Tin Woodsman and a Cowardly Lion who help her on her journey.
